Boil schedule
Recipes count down, your timer counts up. The tool does the translation.

This is the calculation Krausi uses. Create an account to save it in a recipe or a brew.
Create my accountWhy prepare a boil schedule?
A recipe lists hops by their boil time: “Magnum 60 min, Cascade 10 min”. That is the time the hops spend in the wort, counted from the end. But while brewing, you watch a timer that starts from the beginning.
Between watching the kettle and getting the chilling ready, the 10-minute addition is the one you forget. The schedule puts everything back in order: what to add at which minute.
How is the schedule built?
Each addition is placed on the timeline, then the list is sorted:
time of the addition = boil time − minutes before the end
For a 60-minute boil, a “60 min” hop goes in right at the start, a “10 min” hop at minute 50, and a 0-minute addition when you turn off the heat.

What the tool does not do
- The schedule does not calculate bitterness: that is the job of the IBU calculation.
- The tool reports an error if an addition asks for more minutes than the boil time.
- It does not handle steps outside the boil: whirlpool, dry hopping.
Frequently asked questions
When should I add Irish moss?
15 minutes before the end of the boil, which is minute 45 of a one-hour boil. Earlier, it loses its clarifying effect.
When do the 60 minutes start?
When the wort is at a rolling boil, not when you light the burner. Wait for the foam to form, then start the timer and add the first hops.
And with the assistant?
In the app, Krausi starts a real timer from your recipe and warns you before each addition.
60-minute boil: Magnum at 60, Irish moss at 15, Cascade at 10, Citra at flame-out. Make me the schedule.
Here is the order: Magnum right at the start, Irish moss at 45 min, Cascade at 50 min, Citra at 60 min, at flame-out. On brew day, start the timer from the brew page: I'll warn you two minutes before each addition.
