Better beers, step by step.

Krausi, the fox who brews with you.

An assistant for homebrewers. He calculates your recipes, logs your readings, follows the fermentation and keeps an eye on your stock and spending. Write to him by e-mail or in the app: he files everything in the right project.

Free to get started, no credit card. Your data stays in Europe.

Krausi, the brewing fox, holding an ear of barley and a hop cone

Talk to him like a brewing friend.

No spreadsheet to fill in. You write “gravity 1.018 this morning, 19 °C”, Krausi logs the reading in the right brew, draws the curve and tells you whether it is time to dry hop or to bottle.

Gravity 1.018 this morning, 19 °C

Gravity 1.018 logged

Logged in “Citra IPA #2”: 1.018, which is 71% attenuation from 1.062. Fermentation is slowing down: two more days, then the dry hop.

How much sugar for 20 L at 2.5 volumes?

For a beer kept at 20 °C: 6.4 g per litre, so 128 g of sugar for your 20 L. Dissolve it in a little boiled water.

I received 5 kg of Pilsner malt

Stock updated

Added to stock: Pilsner, + 5 kg. You now have 7.5 kg, enough for your next blonde.

By e-mail from the brewhouse, in the app to review everything.

By e-mail. Send a reading, a photo of an invoice or a question from your phone, with your hands full. Krausi replies in plain text, no app to open.

In the app. Your projects, recipes, brews, fermentation curves, stock and costs, with Krausi close at hand in a panel on the right. Installable on your phone's home screen.

From recipe to bottle, everything in one place.

Build your recipe.

Malts, hops, yeast, mash steps: Krausi calculates the original gravity, the bitterness in IBU, the colour in EBC and the expected alcohol, and scales the recipe to your batch size.

  • Original and final gravity, expected alcohol
  • Bitterness in IBU (Tinseth) and colour in EBC (Morey)
  • Recipe scaling and hop substitution

A recipe in Krausi: ingredients, contribution of each malt and each hop, targets and water volumes

Brew with peace of mind.

Water volumes, strike water temperature, hop addition schedule: on brew day, everything is calculated before you light the burner.

  • Mash and sparge water, with or without sparging
  • Mash temperature correction
  • Timers and boil schedule

Follow the fermentation.

Every reading you send feeds the curve. Krausi calculates the attenuation, spots the end of fermentation and tells you when to prime.

  • Readings log: gravity, temperature, pH
  • Attenuation and alcohol at every reading
  • Priming sugar dose

Keep stock and costs under control.

Take a photo of an invoice: Krausi updates the stock and calculates the real cost of every litre and every bottle. A low-stock threshold warns you before you run out.

  • Inventory of malts, hops and yeasts
  • Invoices read and filed, history of stock in and out
  • Cost per litre and per bottle

Krausi never does maths in his head.

Chat assistants get numbers wrong. Krausi does not: for every calculation he calls one of Krausi's 42 brewing tools, based on published methods (Tinseth, Morey, Kolbach, Balling…), the same ones you can use for free, without an account.

Krausi standing: a fox in a brewer's apron, his wooden mash paddle in hand

A fox, a mash paddle, and a lot of patience.

Krausi takes his name from the krausen, the foam that crowns the wort while the yeast is at work. He was designed by a homebrewer who was tired of juggling a spreadsheet, three calculators and a wort-stained notebook.

He never lets go of his mash paddle: the slotted paddle used to stir the mash, and the emblem of brewers for centuries.

Frequently asked questions

Is Krausi free?

The 42 calculators are free and need no account. The assistant is free to get started, with a number of messages per day; a paid plan for heavy use will follow.

Do I need to install an app?

No. Krausi works in the browser and by e-mail. On a phone, you can add it to your home screen.

How does Krausi do its calculations?

He never makes up a number: every calculation goes through a deterministic, documented and tested tool that you can use yourself on the Tools page.

Can I import my existing recipes?

Yes. Krausi reads BeerXML files, the exchange format of brewing software: drop the file into the app or send it by e-mail and the recipe is created in one go. You can also dictate it, and export it as BeerXML at any time.

Where is my data?

On servers in Europe. You can export or delete it at any time.
